The Berlin Spark

In the late 1980s, amidst the electric energy of Berlin just before the Wall came down, I walked into a small boutique that changed my life. The owner was a man possessed by a singular passion: essential oils. He traveled the world to find the rarest, most potent extractions. I spent hours in that shop, mesmerized by the tiny bottles and the stories they told. It was there that I crafted my very first massage lotion.

Life eventually took me away from Berlin to continue my career as a trapeze artist, and though the original recipe was lost to time—the oils literally dissolving the ink on the bottle—the memory of those scents never left me.

The Path to Healing

Years later, as the internet made the world smaller, I began searching for those rare oils again. My journey into true "Botanical Alchemy" was born out of necessity. When a persistent case of eczema left me frustrated with standard cortisone treatments, I went to my lab to find a natural way to soothe my skin. By blending oils to calm the spirit, disinfect the skin, and support the body’s natural defenses, I found the relief I had been seeking.

This realization—that essential oils are powerful tools that help the body help itself—became the foundation of every ointment and "magic lotion" I create, from mosquito repellents tested in the wilds of Canada to muscle balms designed for the aches of a former acrobat.

From Perfume to Incense

While I spent years creating custom perfumes, I eventually found a deeper calling in the art of incense. Perfume is a personal dialogue with the body, but incense is an atmosphere. It allows for constant experimentation and discovery, filling a space with scent without the permanence of a bottled perfume.

Botanical Alchemist Today

Today, under the name Botanical Alchemist, I combine my background in data-driven production with a deep, intuitive respect for botanical ingredients. Whether it’s a balm to soothe a sore muscle or a stick of incense to transform a room, every product is handcrafted with the same wonder I felt in that little Berlin shop decades ago.
